How to connect

How to install the Akeneo app

To connect Akeneo to the Connect Platform, you have two possibilities:

  • Use the Bynder x Akeneo application (recommended for Production environment)
  • Use the "Old Style" connection (mandatory to use the Staging environment)

Bynder x Akeneo App

You can find here the steps to install the Bynder x Akeneo application.

  1. In your Akeneo PIM, go to ConnectGeneral Akeneo connect
  2. Search for Bynder
  3. Click on ConnectGeneral Akeneo app store
  4. Authorize the application General Akeneo connect application
  5. Validate the authorizations in the Akeneo portal General Akeneo connect application
  6. Select the Categories/locales/attribute groups so the connector can update the products (to add the assets) General Akeneo categoryGeneral Akeneo localesGeneral Akeneo attribute groups
  7. And confirm. Your PIM is now connected to the Connect Platform. This can be verified by testing it. General Akeneo validation

Akeneo connect

Create in Akeneo

  1. In your Akeneo PIM, go to ConnectGeneral Akeneo connect
  2. Click on Connection settingsGeneral Akeneo connection settings
  3. Create a new connection
  4. Fill the fields General Akeneo new connection

    We recommend to select "Data Source" for the flow type

  5. Select the correct Role and Group
    1. For the role, the connector must be able to :
      1. Create/update assets
      2. Read and update products (for linking assets to products)
      3. (Optional) Read and update Categories and/or Reference entities
    2. For the Group, the connector must be able to :
      1. Read/update products in the categories
      2. Read/update attributes in the attribute groups
      3. Read/update values in the locales General Akeneo new connection settings
  6. Keep this page open to get the Client ID, Secret, Username and Password

Create in the connect platform

  1. Go to the Connect platform > Connections menu.
  2. Click on Create Connection.
  3. Select Akeneo. General Create Connection

  5. Click Save.
  6. After the connection is created, click Test to verify. You should see the message Connection success.
